Concrete cancer repairs Sydney.
This block of inner city apartments in Chippendale was in need of some remediation works to its exterior to bring the building back to a fair and reasonable state of repair.
The render was beginning to crack in several places, along with concrete spalling and render delamination caused by poor detailing of the existing render control joints.
We were engaged to carry out these repairs and rectification works by the Executive Committee as some of these issues were creating water ingress to enter many of the apartments causing damage to finishings and fittings.

Our professional team of abseilers were used to complete the facade repairs by firstly cutting out the cracked and drummy render. All render joints were then repaired and re-sealed along the relevant movement joints. The concrete spalling areas were treated and repaired, ready for the new render.
These locations were then re-rendered with an acrylic render application ensuring the render was finished off flush with the adjoining surfaces and with a texture to match the existing. The rooftop of the complex was re-waterproofed due to many water ingress issues to the units below.
Strata rendering and painting.
To complete the overall external appearance of the building, the facade was prepped, primed and then painted using a Dulux Acratex painting system. The external paintwork was well beyond its serviceable lifespan and therefore allowing moisture to penetrate the render causing efflorescence staining and paint coverage to flake and delaminate.
A perfect finish to ensure a complete transformation and to maintain the longevity of the external elements of this building.
