Strata stairwell balustrade and handrail replacement.
New stairwell balustrades / handrails for a strata building in Abbotsford in Sydney’s Inner West.
A modern transformation from old to new for this 1980’s residential strata unit complex.
The existing handrails didn’t comply with safety standards.
Due to the age of the internal stairwell balustrades and changes in the construction legislation over time, it had been identified that the inspected balustrades did not comply with the National Construction Code /Building Code of Australia. This needed to be rectified as it also presented a concern as a safety issue.
We were engaged by the Executive Committee and Building Consultants to remediate this issue and bring it up to the current standards.
New powder-coated, aluminium balustrades were installed.
We removed the existing steel handrails from all three common area stairwells of this complex. They were replaced with new aluminium powder coated handrails on all levels throughout the three buildings. A fresh coat of paint was added to the stair treads and edges of the stairs to give these common areas a fresh updated look to compliment the new handrails.
We also rendered and painted the walls that were impacted where the original handrail elements had been.
The common property stair are now safety compliant.
The final outcome – a very happy Executive Committee and fellow residents and of course the safety aspects for the balustrades which now comply.
